Itinerary

What to expect

Walk along the Singapore River (the birth place of Singapore) and discover the importance of the river and the reasons for the divide. A short walk will lead you to our very own iconic figure of Singapore, the Merlion, adopted by the Singapore Tourism Board. The story of the Merlion illustrates two different eras. Also, is the Merlion female or male?
Guess the Answer:

Hop on to the Singapore River Cruise and be on your way to discover the river thriving hub of commerce during the 19th and 20th century. Enjoy a 25-minute ride on the bumboat, also known as the Tongkang (sea-going barge). These wooden boats ply the river transporting goods, carrying them to the godowns near the riverbanks. Wonder why there are eyes on each bumboat? Listen out for the answers in the commentary provided in the boat.

Hungry? Lets enjoy Singapore’s very own local street food.

Singapore is a food paradise and we are blessed with many different kinds of food that exist all on this tiny island that we call home. Connect with our passionate foodie guide to sample various dishes and find out the story behind the food presentedThey say that the best way to know more about the history, culture and diversity is through food.  For the food tour, guests will be able to sample 6 local dishes, including a can of beer and our very own local coffee, which can be presented in many different ways. Trust me, you will be blown away!

After a hearty meal, roam the biggest ethnic quarter (Chinatown) and discover how the area has been restored, refurbished into vibrant rows of conserved shophouses. Be amazed that even in its early days of existence, harmony thrived amongst the different ethnic groups with the presence of the oldest Hindu temple in the area. Not forgetting the stories of each mural on the streets of Chinatown. Lastly, purchase some souvenirs at very reasonable prices.
Next, take a short ride to Arab Street, also known as Kampong Glam. Marvel at 19th century shophouses that have been turned into stores selling textiles, and casual restaurants serving spicy Malay and global fare. Notable landmarks here include the golden domed Sultan Mosque and the Malay Heritage Centre, which was once a palace. Discover the narrow streets, vibrant shophouses and the architecture of the Muslim community that once lived and thrived in this area.
