Itinerary
What to expect
Begin your journey with our very own Little India and be amazed at the sights and sounds of the area. Understand why in the early years, Indians from South India were attracted to this place, and how it has transformed to its current town known as “Little India”.
Next, take a short ride to Arab Street, also known as Kampong Glam. Marvel at 19th century shophouses that have been turned into stores selling textiles, and casual restaurants serving spicy Malay and global fare. Notable landmarks here include the golden domed Sultan Mosque and the Malay Heritage Centre, which was once a palace. Discover the narrow streets, vibrant shophouses and the architecture of the Muslim community that once lived and thrived in this area. Enjoy a Teh Tarik (pulled tea) at your own expense.
Hungry? Let’s make a visit to Chinatown and our guide will suggest some local food. Eat with the local people and discover our very unique hawker culture. After a hearty meal, roam the biggest ethnic quarter and discover how the area has been restored, refurbished into vibrant rows of conserved shophouses. Be amazed that even in its early days of existence, harmony thrived amongst the different ethnic groups with the presence of the oldest Hindu temple in the area. Not forgetting the stories of each mural on the streets of Chinatown. Lastly, purchase some souvenirs at very reasonable prices.
Enough of the urban concrete jungle, let’s make our journey to Singapore’s very own UNESCO tropical gardens. Botanical Gardens was once upon a time a scientific garden. Enter the Orchid Garden to be mesmerized and surrounded by 60,000 orchid plants. Enjoy your time soaked up in nature and don’t forget to take pictures!
Relax your journey to our very own colonial district, also known as Civic District. Marvel at the architecture of the area and be overwhelmed by the difference between the old and the new just a stone’s throw away. Take a stroll around the area and witness one of the oldest buildings in Singapore, near the Singapore River. Also, take pictures with the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore.
After a long and satisfying day, make your way back to your hotel and recollect the historical journey you have just completed.
